"Fête de la Musique"

Music festival Marseille

June 21, 2025

Every June 21, it’s the same old story… What are we doing this year for the Fête de la Musique? Where are we going? Well, I’d have to say Marseille, of course!
Once again this year, we’re going to be celebrating in style this unmissable festival that opens the summer season! Here’s a small selection of places that are just waiting for you to party the night away!

Published on 4 June 2025

Around the Old Port

For those of you on the Old Port this June 21, the atmosphere is sure to be festive. On the Quai de Rive Neuve, a number of iconic Irish pubs will be welcoming the Fête de la Musique in style, with Little Temple Bar and the Shamrock, among others, offering a warm and friendly atmosphere. The Queen Victoria, the only English pub in the area, will not be outdone by its own sobritish atmosphere. In this corner of the city center, the party will be on.

Fancy a whole day dedicated to music? The Radisson Blu offers a full program: designer market, dancefloor, pool party… everything to celebrate summer in style. And for a truly exceptional setting, head to the Citadelle, on Fort d’Entrecasteaux, for an evening under the stars with a breathtaking view of Marseille. Please note that reservations are required for this event!

And this year, the Vieux-Port will also play host to a large open-air stage to celebrate the arrival of summer, and in particular the Marseilles summer, with music. Starting at 7pm, DJ Trackworks will perform, followed by Maraboutage at 8:30pm, then Soolking at 10pm to round off the evening in style. The afternoon will be filled with festive strolls, a fair, a parade, concerts… and the traditional Fête des Écoles. The festivities begin at 2:30 p.m. on Esplanade Bargemon. Full program of festivities.

Downtown

On the Docks Village side of La Joliette, La Place des Canailles is hosting this year’s Oldskool Party: a 90’s and 2000’s atmosphere blending rap, R&B and funk, ideal for grooving until 2am. For a decidedly more extravagant evening, head to R2 – Rooftop des Terrasses du Port for a Las Vegas-style night of bling, glitter and excess.

Want to stay up high, but in a more gastronomic atmosphere? Les Réformés offers a fine alternative, with good food to savor while enjoying the music, eyes on the rooftops.

Looking for a more classic evening out? That’s also possible in Marseille. At the Opéra, the École Nationale de Danse will present an exceptional ballet: Swan Lake, for an elegant and poetic interlude.

For an even more adventurous atmosphere, head for the Toit Terrasse at Friche la Belle de Mai, where the sounds of Africa and the rest of the world will thrill the audience. Want to dance the Argentine tango? The Institut Culturel Italien (5th arrondissement) invites you to an evening of sensuality starting at 5:30 p.m. Yes, even Italians know how to tango!

Heading up towards Place Castellane, a stop at Cours Gouffé is a must: at Zoumaï’ s, craft beer flows freely while groovy, soulful and rocking rhythms resonate from 6pm.

Finally, head to the heights, at the foot of Notre-Dame de la Garde, where Gigi and La Velada host La Grande Guinguette in the Vauban district. Please note that reservations are required for this event.

On the Cours Julien

The Cours Julien district, in the heart of downtown Marseille, is the HQ of the Fête de la Musique. If there’s one place to go on June 21, it’s here: electric atmosphere, sounds echoing in the alleyways, and an energy found nowhere else. Between Place Notre-Dame du Mont, Place Jean Jaurès and Cours Julien, stroll to the rhythm of the stages, DJ sets and live bands. Let yourself be carried away by the sounds: here, music is everywhere and the party never stops.

The bar La Dame du Mont offers a rich and varied program, as well as homemade cocktails, to get you in the summer mood! Still on the Place Notre-Dame du Mont, the English pub Le Red Lion Down Town and its team are waiting to celebrate the arrival of summer in style! A few steps away, in the same spirit, Le Morrison’s will extend the experience with its own sounds and friendly atmosphere.

Finally, still on the square, l’Estaminet promises an evening of house and techno. Even the most reserved guests are likely to get carried away by the tempo… and the €3 pints will only add to the lightness of the moment.

Sea side

On the seaside, the atmosphere will be just as festive. Prado beach will be buzzing from 7pm with the party organized by Fun Radio, as part of the Freestyle Cup village. DJs will be on hand to get you dancing with your toes in the sand, in a supercharged summer atmosphere.

Just a stone’s throw away, the Red Lion, an emblematic seaside pub, will be offering live concerts and DJ sets from 7pm onwards, in an atmosphere as convivial as ever. Still on the Escale Borély side, the Sport Beach will be hosting a Kiss Kiss Bang Bang evening of cocktails, music and the seaside.

Finally, this year, Les Jardins Suspendus take over the Bistrot Plage, transformed for the occasion into a veritable open-air dancefloor, with a breathtaking view over the Mediterranean. A musical evening as the Marseilles sun sets.

A little further away

Come and celebrate music in the enchanting setting of the Château de Forbin, starting at 2pm. The Sundae Sundae Festivaljoins forces with the Château to offer a day and evening of madness in this exceptional setting!

On June 21, 2025, Bastide de la Salette will be serving up an explosive cocktail of lifestyle, gastronomy and good humor.

Do you know Le Talus? Well, June 20 (yes, the day before the Fête de la Musique) is the perfect opportunity to find out! A unique socio-environmental and cultural venue in Marseille. An open-air evening of activities, games and music!

This year, for the Fête de la Musique, the Hôtel du Département will be playing the open-air stage with a free concert by Claudio Capéoand the talents of The Voice 2025 – atmosphere guaranteed!

Although the Orange Vélodrome stadium has been sold out for some time now, it will be transformed into a giant disco by the famous DJ David Guetta.

These are just a few suggestions: on June 21, every district in Marseille will be celebrating. All over the city, amateur and established groups and artists will be taking over bars, restaurants and street corners to play music and celebrate the arrival of summer.
