Description
The 11th edition of the National Architecture Days will take place on Thursday the 15th, Friday the 16th, Saturday the 17th, and Sunday the 18th of October and will focus on the theme “Renovation: Building the Future.”
Launched by the Ministry of Culture in 2016, the National Architecture Days will take place throughout France. The goal of these days is to help the general public (re)discover architecture and the professions within the field—whether through major landmark projects or everyday buildings—through a rich program of more than 1,200 activities: urban walks, panel discussions, film screenings, exhibitions, construction site tours, open houses, and more.
Thursday and Friday are dedicated to school groups as part of the “Look Up!” initiative. These events help all audiences discover architecture and the professions within the field and aim to highlight the presence of architecture throughout the country—from major projects to everyday buildings.
Architecture lies at the crossroads of today’s major challenges:
- environmental and climate challenges, through its role in heritage and urban development;
- economic challenges, as it fuels economic activity and employment and contributes to a region’s appeal;
- social challenges, through the connections it fosters in our cities, metropolitan areas, and rural communities;
- scientific and innovation challenges, through the ingenuity of architects, which it harnesses for the well-being of users.
