Description

When there are two of us, the music resonates more deeply.
Hervé Joulain, horn Fanny Azzuro, piano Originally a military instrument (think of Roncesvalles), the horn has become the quintessential romantic instrument and the surest path to dreams (think of the “Wonderful Horn” from *L’Enfant*). Hervé Joulain is one of its finest ambassadors. Appointed principal horn of the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra at age 20, he grew up with Bernstein, Barenboim, and Giulini… He then held the same position with the Orchestre National de France before joining Lorin Maazel in Parma. While her family’s roots are also in Italy, Fanny Azzuro began studying piano in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence to accompany her older brother, a horn player (now principal horn at the Deutsche Oper Berlin). She also directs a festival in Provence, Musique au cœur des Baronnies. PROGRAM Works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Jacques de la Presle, Raoul Pugno, Johannes Brahms Elsa Barraine, Paul Le Flem, and Robert Schumann.
