The Old Port

To be right at the heart of the action

Of course, the Old Port is a must-see for watching the fireworks. On either side of the quays, you’ll be immersed in the magic of the display. You’ll have a front-row seat to enjoy not only the sound of the fireworks, but also the music accompanying the display. Don’t turn up too late if you want to find a spot at the harbour – it’s the best place to see both the Old Port and the Citadel at the same time, which means it’s always packed!

The Pharo Gardens

To look out over the Old Port

The Palais du Pharo is the ideal spot for families who want to enjoy the show without having to venture into the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Bear in mind, however, that a huge number of people choose this option, so you won’t be alone! The advantage is that you can make the most of the vast expanses of grass to relax whilst waiting for the fireworks to begin. As capacity is limited to 5,000 people for safety reasons, there will be a security check at the entrance. The Pharo Gardens will be open in the evening from 6 pm.

The Esplanade de la Tourette

For a 180° view at the harbour entrance

Situated in the Panier district, not far from the Mucem, the Esplanade de la Tourette offers a 180° view of the Vieux-Port basin and Fort d’Entrecasteaux. It is accessible from the Quai du Port via a flight of steps, allowing you to gain a little height. You can then settle down on this square and enjoy the spectacle of fireworks lighting up the Marseille sky, away from the crowds (though everything is relative, as this festive day always attracts huge crowds!)

Saint-Victor Abbey

For a friendly atmosphere

Head to the 7th arrondissement for a fun and festive evening! From the Esplanade Saint-Victor, you’ll enjoy a splendid view of Fort d’Entrecasteaux, with the majestic Palais du Pharo as a backdrop. However, the view towards the Vieux-Port is somewhat limited, but a great atmosphere is guaranteed! You could even pop into the Café de l’Abbaye, situated just above, to enjoy an aperitif at sunset before the fireworks display.

Caution!

Depending on the weather, the fireworks display may be postponed or cancelled, so it’s important to check before heading to these venues!
