Obtaining the Green Key label: a destination project

The City of Marseille and the Marseille Convention and Visitors Bureau accompany and support the city’s tourist accommodation professionals through a Green Key labelling program.

A globally recognized hotel eco-label

The Green Key certification support programme was developed in partnership with the City of Marseille in 2020 and will be rolled out until 2026. This labelling incentive programme is a genuine destination project. It is part of a joint project to transform tourism in Marseille sustainably.

Recognised worldwide as the leading hotel eco label, with x establishments awarded the label in 65 countries, this distinction honours establishments that follow an eco-responsible approach.

In the fourth year of the programme, 36 supported establishments were awarded the label.

Numerous criteria to respect

Environmental awareness and training of employees, water and waste management, living environment … These are some of the criteria on the list to qualify for the Green Key label. This internationally recognized label rewards establishments for the environmental policy they carry out.

The Nhow Marseille Palm Beach, the Carré Vieux-Port, the Ryad Boutique Hotel, La Residence du Vieux-Port, the 96 Hotel, the InterContinental Marseille – Hotel Dieu, the Best Western Plus La Joliette, the Terminus Saint-Charles and the C2 joined the Radisson Blu, the Bellevue Hotel and two youth hostels in the 8th and 12th districts in attaining the Green Key eco-label.
