Fashion takes to the skies

Chanel, the Haute Couture house synonymous with refinement and elegance, is set to present its 2024/25 Cruise collection at MAMO, the rooftop art centre of the Cité radieuse in Marseille. The show promises to be a spectacular event, showcasing the latest creations from the brand known for its unique blend of craftsmanship and creativity.

The collection will be presented in two fashion shows, each attended by 300 people.

A landmark in Marseille

The Cité radieuse, designed by the visionary architect Le Corbusier, is an iconic landmark. A work of art in itself, the building embodies the architect’s values of functionality and aesthetics. With its clean lines and avant-garde architecture, the Cité radieuse is the perfect setting for a dialogue between fashion and modern architecture.

And if you’re not lucky enough to attend the fashion show, you can still discover the Cité radieuse and its famous roof terrace during our exclusive tours!

The 19M Gallery in Marseille

To coincide with the CHANEL 2024/25 cruise collection fashion show on 2 May in Marseille, the 19M is setting up a free temporary gallery in the Fort Saint-Jean of the Mucem, open to the public: from 3 to 26 May, the Galerie du 19M Marseille will be a space for dialogue and expression between the Métiers d’art and the artistic scene in Marseille.

Developed by an editorial committee made up of creative figures from Marseille, the programme will include a group exhibition, participatory workshops and round tables. It will feature artists, craftspeople, designers, associations and creative spaces from Marseille and key destinations in the history of 19M.

In keeping with the vocation of the Galerie du 19M Paris/Aubervilliers, the exhibition celebrates the interweaving of practices with a view to discovery, inspiration and transmission.

Marseille and fashion

Marseille, a vibrant city with a rich cultural heritage, has become a major hub for fashion designers and trend-setters. The city offers a panorama of varied styles, from local designer boutiques to vintage clothing markets, embodying the bold and free spirit of its residents.

Among the Marseille designers who have made their mark on the city, Simon Porte Jacquemus stands out for its memorable catwalk show in 2017 on the Mucem catwalk, an event that captured national and international attention. In 2018, Jacquemus continued to surprise with a catwalk show of its men’s collection in the Calanque de Sormiou, a stunning natural setting that perfectly complemented the brand’s aesthetic.

These events helped reinforce Marseille’s reputation as a fashion destination, underlining the city’s ability to host large-scale events and inspire global fashion trends.
