The Christmas market

The Christmas huts are back on the Old Port from Saturday 20 November 2021! About forty craftsmen and creators are waiting for you and will offer you many handicraft  creations for your Christmas gifts or just to make you happy! Jewellery, sweets, decorations, fabrics, wooden toys…

The Christmas market in Marseille is also the pleasure of strolling through the alleys while sipping a glass of hot wine or chocolate, or taking advantage of the Ferris Wheel to admire the Phocaean City from the sky.

The Santons Fair

The mythical  Santons Fair opens its doors on Sunday, 21 November 2021. A mass will be celebrated in Saint-Ferréol Church, then folk groups will stroll around the market for the official opening at 12 noon.

Santons play a major  role in the provençal traditions. Christmas nativity scene with ‘santons’ ( figurines of clay) are represented in provencal families.

The Christmas Village

From November 26th to December 22nd, discover the Christmas Village at ‘Parc Chanot’. There are 120 exhibitors and lots of entertainment for the whole family: photos with Santa Claus, carousel, and even a giant ice rink!

The neighbourhood Fair and the ice rink

A funfair and a ice rink will be held on the Canebière street from December 18th to January 2nd! Young and old alike will be able to enjoy a moment of fun and pleasure on the various rides set up from the “Cours Saint Louis” to the street “Albert 1er”. The ice rink will be located in front of the Palais de la Bourse.

The Christmas nativity scene

The Christmas nativity scene is an essential part of Provençal traditions. Every year you can admire them in different places in the city, and especially in the heart of the churches which repeat the magic every year.

Eat local

Marseille Centre, the federation of city centre shopkeepers, will bring the streets and squares of the historic centre to life on Saturdays 4, 11 and 18 December 2021. The programme for these festive family days will include music, hot drinks, biscuits, recitals, choirs and brass brands! don’t forget to support your local shopkeepers during the festive season!
