Description

Vocal arts festival organized by Les Voies du Chant.
True to our artistic vision, this edition takes the form of a journey through time and around the world, with many colorful stops along the way. Crafted from personal favorites, new discoveries, and a passion for sharing, the program unfolds like a fan opened simply for the joy of a shared musical moment. The voice takes center stage in all its forms—from tradition to contemporary creation, walking the fine line of expression—as a lens through which history and the stories of each and every one of us are revealed. It will open with the Chanteurs de jardin on Sunday, August 30, as various choirs—like street criers—will sing repertoires from around the world in Marseille’s parks and announce the festival. A spotlight on the singers of Archipel 49, who will delight the audience at Longchamp Park. Sacred music has always held an important place in our program; *Misatango*, a contemporary mass by Martin Palmeri, will delight us, performed at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, where we have gathered for many years. A three-day stop in the courtyard of the Palais Carli (Pierre Barbizet Conservatory) allows us to present a high-quality program in a magnificent setting. This year, the theme has emerged as “strings”: vocal cords, of course, but also the harp, the violin, the double bass, and the cellos—a cello orchestra—all coming together to accompany a voice, a truly magnificent voice! The Archipel 49 auditorium will be dedicated primarily to acoustic performances, allowing artists who wish to do so to reconnect directly with the audience. Since the venue’s acoustics showcase their talents, we offer artists the pleasure of performing acoustic music and singing in this beautiful setting. Creativity, tradition, chants, songs, and polyphonic music—like bouquets—fill the auditorium, the Comptoir, and the hallways, where the voice dances, wanders, echoes, and fills us with joy. At Archipel 49, our House of Song, Music, and Storytelling, music is a celebration, and *De Vives Voix* is an opportunity for discovery and sharing. It is at the Cité de la Musique, our loyal ally and partner, that we will bring the festivities of this 22nd edition to a close. Laurène Barnel and Carine Habauzit of the duo Leï present *Feu de Vie*, a new work for voice and synthesizer, and the Dames de la Joliette share their latest creation, *TAMBORADAS DE AMOR*, songs of love and rebellion as the grand finale. The voice, the voices—for our enjoyment—we come together to celebrate the end of summer, like a book whose pages we turn as the days go by. We gather for the pleasure of listening and singing. Everyone is welcome to join us on this new journey.
