The beach of the Prophet is a small natural sandy beach, with shallow waters, equipped with a refreshment bar, garbage cans, games for children, a volleyball court, first aid station, toilets, showers.
The surveillance of the beaches will be from June 1st to August 31st 2022, 7 days a week from 9:30 am to 7 pm. Access with bus 83 (Vieux Port - Rond-point du Prado).
The name of the beach is linked to a famous opera singer, Jean-Vital Jammes, known as Ismaël, who performed Meyerbeer's "Le Prophète" at the Marseille Opera in 1856. In 1861, the singer bought a villa in the Roucas-Blanc district, the Villa Ismaël, which overlooks the Corniche. Rumor has it that the baritone often rehearsed on the beach, and so it was named in his honor.
