L'Aérosol

In 2018, the Maquis-Art consortium (L'Aérosol), Captown, and Histoire & Patrimoine responded to the call for proposals issued by Euroméditerranée for the revitalization of the village of Les Crottes. Supported by the European Brownfield Fund to the tune of 6.8 million euros, this project will transform not only the buildings but also create public spaces around La Savonnerie. The renovation of La Savonnerie was designed by Ateliers Monchecourt. Surrounding Place Moncada—which will eventually serve as the neighborhood’s hub—will be the Savonnerie, a national center for graffiti and hip-hop arts; eight “Soho”-style creative studios; and a lodging facility that combines elements of a hotel and a youth hostel. And finally, La Manufacture with its forty or so residential units. A building steeped in industrial history and urban art, La Tulipe is one of Marseille’s iconic tourist landmarks. It is essential to us not to obscure the building’s past, preserving as much as possible its spirit and the details that make it unique. Following the acquisition of the property, we are now opening this new Aérosol, which will host a rich and varied program of events. La Savonnerie consists of three naves. One of them houses the Hip-Hop Museum, while another serves as a space for the shop and workshops (SOHO). The central nave is an indoor pedestrian street, with a patio at its center that will serve as the venue for a rich and varied program of events. Opening onto the two new public squares and the future Aygalades Park (20 hectares), La Savonnerie plays a central role in the revitalization of its neighborhood.
