Heading to Chez Paul’s really means going to Les Goudes. It is the antithesis of the trendy bourgeois spot. The first step is managing to get someone to answer the phone to secure a reservation. After that, you’ll need to set off early to reach this tip of Marseille’s bay. The magnificent road along the seafront can be very busy in summer. Opt to take a shuttle from the Vieux Port instead. As for the menu, it features a very serious Marseille combo: pizza, fish soup, ‘poêlon du pêcheur’ (similar to bouillabaisse), roast octopus and some truly devilish desserts.
