L'Après M

The M in this restaurant – named ‘After M’ in French – stands for the American burger giant, of course. At the end of 2019, after shutting up shop for the last time with 77 employees made redundant, this restaurant became the scene of a veritable act of urban and popular resistance. from various neighbourhoods and associations, decided to keep this place of life going. There was an urgent need to continue its role in helping get people into work, combining this with a platform for preparing food parcels in a part of the city that desperately needed them. In 2021, Mayor of Marseille Benoît Payan announced the city’s support for the building’s purchase, cementing and perpetuating the initiative.
