What is the Monte Cristo Challenge?

The Défi de Monte-Cristo is an international open water swimming competition held every year in Marseille. Participants set off from iconic sites such as the Château d’If and Ile Degaby, before swimming to the beaches of the Prado.
The event offers several races to suit all levels, with distances generally ranging from 1km to 6km, some with fins and others without. Amateurs, experienced sportsmen and women and those who simply love swimming in the sea all come together to take up a sporting challenge in an exceptional setting.
Beyond performance, the Défi de Monte-Cristo is above all a human and collective adventure, where surpassing oneself, conviviality and a love of the sea come together.
