  • Marseille is the only place with Paris where you can visit a museum dedicated to African Arts, from Oceania and America. The MAAOA offers a rich collection of art objects that are both cultural witness and works of art in their own right.

  • The permanent collection is divided in 3 parts.Each born from an original collection.

    African room: you can see in this collection hundreds of masks, statues and sculptures ( given by Pierre Guerre, huge collection of African arts), He admires this continents since the age of 12).

    Oceania-America room: made up of a series of 80 skulls and masks collected in the wide world. Objects from collections in Vanuatu and beautiful Ameridian feather ornaments.

Fermeture de la billetterie 30 minutes avant la fermeture du musée. Fermeture du mardi 28 septembre au jeudi 7 octobre en raison du démontage de l'exposition "Le surréalisme dans l'art américain".
