Statue built in Cassis stone by Auguste Cornu in 1930, destroyed in 1944 by occupying troops during the liberation of Cassis, new statue completed in 1999 by Bouvier and inaugurated on June 24, 2000. Calendal is the hero of the work of the same name written by Frédérique Mistral, still available in bi-lingual script (Provençal, French).
