The Frioul archipelago, a district of Marseille on the open sea, is now at the heart of the Parc national des Calanques. The Maison des îles et du littoral welcomes and educates the public to promote this protected natural area.
Built on the rocky coast of the island of Ratonneau, a 15-minute walk from the port of Frioul, " la maison des îles et du littoral" overlooks the sea opposite Marseille's corniche.
Owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral since 2013, it has been restored to become a museum accessible to all. The restoration was carried out in line with the environmental objectives of the project, which aims to enhance the natural heritage of the Parc national des Calanques. The Maison des îles et du littoral is a showcase for the work carried out to manage the islands of Marseille, a venue for exhibitions (permanent and temporary) and a tool for raising awareness. It welcomes all visitors, especially schoolchildren and local associations, to discover the wealth and challenges of this territory.
