After 7 months' work, I jardin St Nicolas has been completely redeveloped, with the restoration of the Louis XIV rampart and the creation of three children's play areas.
The site is accessible via four entrances, three of which are adapted for people with reduced mobility: two on Bd de la Corderie, one - which is the main one - on rue des Lices, and one on rue d'Endoume.
The site features a drinking fountain, "freshness islands" planted with trees and shrubs, a future refreshment area and toilets managed by the refreshment area.
Large panels with QR codes, totems with QR codes and watercolours, as well as a large tarpaulin evoke the historical periods from the 6th century BC to 1954, and the evolution of the site. A 1:20 scale model of the Corderie quarry, measuring 2 x 2 metres, illustrates the archaeological remains uncovered during recent excavations, with items from the municipal repository and reproductions. Walking time is estimated at one hour.
Only a very small part of the remains has not been buried, and is located under a wooden shade. It is open to school groups once a month, and once a year during the European Heritage Days. School visits are led by History Museum mediators.
