The pedestrian Old Port

During the Marseille summer season, from July 2nd to 29th of August, the city of Marseille is pedestrianising part of the ” Vieux-Port” area, every day from 10am.

Discovering the thematic areas

The “Quai des Belges”, the “Quai du Port”and “Espace Bargemon”(area close to the Town Hall), become spaces dedicated to pedestrians.

In the extension of “l’Ombrière Foster”, le quai des Belges hosts a craft market composed of regional producers and food-trucks, from Thursday to Sunday : 11am to 7pm in July and August and until 6pm in September.

On “le quai du port” , near the Ferryboat, the public can take advantage of spaces for relaxation and coolness with the provision of deckchairs and misters. Continuing to walk towards the “Mucem”, on the “quai du port”,  there are sports activities for young people and adults, in particular climbing initiation lessons.

L’espace Bargemon is dedicated to activities for young people, open-air cinema, concerts…

Traffic restrictions

Temporary relocation of the Colorbüs and tourist train routes

The pedestrianisation of the “Vieux-Ports’ area, obliges the tourist service providers, usually positioned on the “quai du Port”, to adapt.

Colorbüs

The Colorbüs agency, located at 86 “Quai du Port”, will be closed to the public. The bus departure point has been removed to “Quai des Belges”, where the “Canebière” leads into the “Vieux-Port”.

As four stops will not be served, Colorbüs is adapting its fares.

Public transportation

The seven “RTM” bus lines that usually use the “Quai du Port” are affected by changes in their trajectory. To help you find your way around, “RTM” (public transportation) details the changes on a specific web page.

Taxis

The different taxi ranks are grouped together in one point, precisely at street “Beausset”.

Parking and car parks

Traffic will be difficult around the “Vieux-Port” area between 2nd of July and the 29 of August.

The street”La République” will temporarily become a one-way street, only towards the place of “La Joliette”, from the street of “Beausset”.

We invite you to use public transport and to park your vehicle in one of the many underground car parks in the city of Marseille.

Despite the pedestrianisation, the Town Hall car park is still accessible via avenue “Saint-Jean” and street “La Loge”.
