Mucem, an exceptional venue for 10 years

The “Musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée” opened its doors on 4 June 2013, the year in which Marseille was elected European Capital of Culture. The museum has quickly become one of the symbols of Marseille, with over 1.2 million visitors expected by 2022! To celebrate its 10th anniversary, all the teams have been mobilised to prepare an exceptional programme for you from Friday to Sunday, and right through to June 2024, when 10 events will punctuate the year with real highlights.

The Weekend Programme

Friday 2 June – 7pm > 1am

Place d’Armes and the Terrace
Rap concert featuring Black M, Alonzo and Soolking
Free admission but booking essential

Saturday 3 June – 8pm > midnight

A pyrotechnic show, “Le temps des lumières”, orchestrated by Groupe F, will illuminate the skies over Marseille, the sea and the entire Mucem complex as night falls.

Sunday 4 June – 7pm > 10.30pm

Let’s get dancing! 3 great balls will get the Mucem dancing with 3 different musical atmospheres.
The Grand Balèti (Cité de la musique) on the Place d’Armes
The Grand Bal Raï (Arabesques creation) in the Cour de la Commande
The Hip-Hop Ball (Cie 6e dimension) on the J4 terrace

The Mucem will be open from 10am throughout the weekend. Artists will be roaming the gardens, exhibition halls and terraces. You’ll meet graffiti artists, dancers, musicians and storytellers – you won’t know where to turn!
On the Place d’Armes, a petanque pitch and table football will delight young and old alike.
You can also take part in the creation of a 10-metre long frieze (Forum du J4).

So see you on Friday evening?
