French-Algerian filmmaker and visual artist Hassen Ferhani takes over three towers of the Château d'If with works exploring the monument's isolation, horizon and prison memory.

Franco-Algerian filmmaker and visual artist Hassen Ferhani is interested in the notions of isolation and horizon, drawing inspiration from the geographical location of the Château d'If, an island between two shores of the Mediterranean, and its history, particularly its prison history. Three of the Château's towers will be occupied by several works, including the installation 143, rue du Désert from the Cnap collections. A new work, Mon plus beau plan fixe, will be produced specifically for the occasion. This new in situ creation will transform the space of the Saint-Christophe tower into a small "cinema room", where the public
will be invited to sit facing the windows opening onto the Mediterranean and the still shots they offer, set to a soundtrack, in French and Arabic, mixing stories, sounds, songs and anecdotes gathered between the two shores.
