Presented for the first time in France, Zineb Sedira's installation Les rêves n'ont pas de titre was designed for the French pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022, and received a special mention from the jury. Zineb Sedira proposes an experience of the fiction of reality, blurring the boundaries between intimacy and collective memory. Through an autobiographical narrative, the artist links key moments in her life to broader geopolitical events, avant-garde cinema and diasporic experiences.Over the past 25 years, Zineb Sedira has developed a sensitive practice concerned with migration, the act of narrating and the biases inherent in official narratives. Her films constitute an in-depth archival exploration of identity and cultural activism. Born in France to an Algerian family, she moved to London
in the mid-1980s. Her story and that of her family soon became a fertile ground for artistic experimentation.
