Supported by the Métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence and CIC, title partner, in collaboration with the CNTL, this new ocean race marked an important step in the development of Class40 racing in the Mediterranean. Building on this success, the CIC MED CHANNEL RACE 2026 will follow the same concept, starting on Sunday May 3 and finishing in the heart of Marseille, in the Mucem basin, on May 10, 2026.
Launched in January 2025, the first edition of the CIC MED CHANNEL RACE set off from Marseille harbor on April 27. Inspired by its big Norman sister, the race offered a 1,000-mile course between Marseille, Corsica, Sardinia and the Balearics, reserved for Class40s on the Mediterranean circuit. After 4 days, 23 hours and 21 minutes of sailing, the race was won by the Franco-Italian duo Ian Lipinski / Alberto Bona on Crédit Mutuel, just 53 minutes ahead of Mikaël Mergui and Keni Piperol on Centrakor.
The CIC MED CHANNEL RACE 2026 will take place on the emblematic Mucem site and the J4 esplanade, a meeting place for skippers, partners and the general public.
Unlike 2025, the race village will remain open all week:
from Wednesday, April 29 (Friday, May 1ᵉʳ for the public) until the start on May 3, then on the return leg on May 9 and 10 for the prize-giving ceremony.
The 2026 edition will also focus on educational mediation. Events for the general public and corporate operations will also be offered, notably to follow the start at sea.
