Residency outing
Flamenco workshop.
Flamenco workshop.
SYNOPSIS
A Pulso is a series of flamenco workshops attended by some fifty women from different parts of the world, who arrived in Marseille and Arles. The project includes this 10-hour scenic laboratory to create a mini choreographic piece that we will show to the public.
This piece is a journey in which identity, nomadism and heroism all travel in the same suitcase; and in the pockets, the greatest tenderness and a love open to the world.
THE PROJECT
Cycle of flamenco workshops and choreography for migrant women and women in social distress.
Led by Olga Magaña of Cie ARARí DANZA
To do something "a pulso" (el pulso being the pulse in Spanish) means to do it with the strength of one's wrist, with only one's own energy, and with an inordinate effort.
Choreographer OLGA MAGAÑA was quick to associate this concept with the art of flamenco, developing the A Pulso project and proposing it to our festival, which seemed to her a perfect match for her approach.
The expressive power of flamenco as a creative ground for women refugees or in social distress in the heart of our Cité-Monde, Marseille, but also in the city of Arles.
