A unique experience at the gates of Marseille

On the way to adventure, head to Ecopark Adventures Marseille Saint-Jérôme, a tree climbing park nestled on the heights of the city. Easily accessible by public transport from the city center, my friends and I reach our playground in about twenty minutes.

Once we arrive, a large wooded space welcomes us. The smell of pine trees, the song of cicadas and children and a light summer breeze immediately plunge us into the atmosphere. Here, it is a true haven of greenery where you quickly forget that the city is so close!

Briefing and equipment

Before taking to the skies, it’s time for the briefing! We’re taken to a reserved area where a clear, detailed tutorial is shown on a television, and we quickly understand the safety instructions. We were then fitted one by one with our harnesses and lanyards by one of the team members. The mood was one of joy and good humour! Thanks to their continous lifeline system, affectionately known as “Zazza”, there’s no risk of us getting unhooked: a real peace of mind to make the most of our experience.

Climbing to the top: adrenalin and wonder

The tree climbing is above all an activity that adapts to everyone. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned adventurer, there is something for everyone. The park offers 10 progressive courses, ranging from the most accessible to the most dizzyling. My favorite was the course entirely dedicated to the zip line (n°7 for the curious)!

Children from 4 years old can learn with monkey bridges and wooden walkways on a course close to the ground, while the most daring go for zip lines of more than 400 meters long, including an impressive 160 meters at 22 meters above the ground!

A breathtaking view of Marseille

One of the highlights of the route: stop at the top of a suspended platform to admire the view. From our perch, Marseille stretches out before our eyes, between sea and hills. A real reward before embarking on the descent!

Tips for a successful adventure

  • Wear comfortable clothing: trainers and loose-fitting clothes are your best allies.
  • Don’t forget to bring gardening gloves, which are compulsary for this activity. If you don’t have any, gloves can be purchased from the park reception for 3€.
  • Stay hydrated: even under the trees, the effort can be intense, especially in summer.
  • Take your time: there’s no need to rush: each platform is worth spending a little time on.

Whether you come with family, friends or colleagues, tree climbing is an ideal activity for pushing your limits in complete safety. So, are you ready to take the plunge? Get your harnesses and let the adventures begin!
