Soft mobility

Walking

Beyond the health benefits, walking is the most natural and popular mode of transport for short journeys.

Cycling

The cycling plan launched in Marseille has enabled cycling to gradually become established as a means of urban transport. One of its key objectives is to make cycling accessible to as many people as possible. To this end, the City of Marseille now offers electric bikes through operators LeVélo, Lime and Dott.

At the same time, the municipality is working to increase the number of dedicated parking spaces, develop new cycle paths and improve safety for cyclists.

In Marseille, various secure bicycle parking facilities are already in place: street terminals, marked areas on the ground, and geolocated spaces accessible via the operators’ applications, in order to limit disruption in public spaces.

Electric scooters

Whether private or public, electric scooters are a micromobility alternative to the car. They allow medium-distance journeys to be made in a short time. Currently, on the rental market, 4,500 new-generation electric scooters are available to the people of Marseille.

Recharging your bike or electric scooter

Located at Gare Saint-Charles, La Bag Mobile offers a lock-up service where you can leave your bike or electric scooter to recharge it. This service is available every day from 8.15am to 9pm. You leave your bike, and it will be safely recharged, ready to be collected with a full battery. Find out more about the service.

Pedestrianisation

The pedestrianisation of public space in the city centre encourages the development of low-carbon deliveries by small vehicles that do not emit any greenhouse gases or by bicycles or cargo bikes. The absence of time constraints applied to this type of delivery is a real advantage.

Car-sharing

As part of its support for the development of car-sharing, the City of Marseille is offering a 50% reduction in the parking rate for electric car-sharing vehicles in paying areas. This reduction is also valid for local residents wishing to take out a resident subscription to paid parking.
