  • The Aix-en-Provence Santon Fair is a real shop-window for santon-makers giving you the chance to see newly created figures and to start off or complete a nativity scene for your home. Esplanade Cezanne (statue of Paul Cezanne).

  • The Santon Fair's predecessor was called the Saint Barbara's Day market. It was the biggest annual gathering in the city. Jean Baptiste Fouque and his son Paul set up their santon stall on this market in December 1934 and were joined by other santon-makers over the years. That's how the famous annual Santon Fair came to be.

    Cours Mirabeau hosts a large nativity scene (next to Monoprix) during the same time. Aix artisan santon-makers work together to make the traditional nativity. The santon-makers share their passion by presenting some of the designs to you.
